joe johns joins me from washington to tell us what this all means. first off, is there anything, joe, to read in to this morning's silence coupled with friday's silence on this issue? >> honestly, nothing at all. they could still decide later in the week, quite frankly. they could decide next week. this is a thing about the court. they really don't send a lot of signals or messages to do something and we have been telling people all along that, you know, there's potential for this to come later on. they can still go in march with this. and we could still get a decision around june. so, don't read anything in to it. that said, you know the broad legal question the supreme court considers of equal protection. basically do same sex couples deserve the same rights and benefits as all other americans? we don't know if the court wants to hear the case. it could be a much narrower case about the defensive marriage act, it could be limited to considering whether couples in states where same-sex is legal and eligible for benefits and not a sweeping decision.

about 40 miles of i-95 south of washington, d.c. is just on the national highway traffic and safety administration website just red with flags all the way through. jackknifed tractor-trailer, cars on the side of the road. as that storm moves east. now, there are also some problems at the airports. we have ground delays in san francisco on the west coast because of wind from a storm coming in from the pacific. also the storm on the east coast. you've grot got ground delays in newark and also at dulles in virginia just outside of d.c. that's going to be a problem. there's also some delays in fort lauderdale at the ft. lauderdale hollywood international airport but that's because of construction. so some problems that could cause a ripple effect at other airports but overall, nationwide, when you think about how many people are on the road, 40 miles of i-95 south of d.c. is not really that bad, miguel. >> power outages, any branching breaking lines that we often see? >> we know here in cleveland we saw a guy this morning when we out to

mike, we know you supervised the atf's response a decade ago, a story i covered a lot, the washington, d.c. beltway sniper. so unfortunately, this is something you know a lot about. i want you to walk me through some of these weapons. in the press conference, the medical examiner said that everybody was shot with the same rifle. which would be i guess the bushmaster. so give us some more information about the bushmaster . 223 semiautomatic rifle. that certainly changes the facts in this case. obviously, the bushmaster is typically used in a longer-range shooting. it has more accuracy from a distance. it's odd that he would take the long gun into the school, because he could do just as much damage with the pistols. the one advantage with the rifle is typically you can load 30-round magazines typically during some of these tactical situations. they'll stack the two magazines, one upside down, finish shooting 30 rounds, push a button, flip the other one over as quickly as you can turn it, and now you have another 30 rounds to shoot. so the tactics -- what's odd with this whole thing that
